BGirl Scouts of the Black Diamond Council

It began over 100 years ago with one woman, Girl Scouts’ founder Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low, who believed in the power of every girl. She organized the first Girl Scout troop on March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia. Today with programs for girls from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to do something amazing.

What Girl Scouts do across the country and around the world today,is  offer a helping hand to those in need and work together to make their corner of the world a better place.

In 2009, the BSA purchased 10,600 acres of property adjacent to West Virginia’s New River Gorge National River area in order to create the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve. The Summit is the new home of achievement, adventure, and innovation in Scouting. With world-class facilities and a focus on outdoor action sports, the Summit welcomed Scouts to a whole new jamboree experience in summer 2013. 2017 is the next national jamboree and The Summit will also be hosting the 2019 World Jamboree.
