BWest Side Farmers Market

A Seasonal Market, the Westside Farmers Market is held on the parking lot of the Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church on the West Side of Charleston. Open on Thursdays from 2 – 7 PM and Saturdays 9 AM – 2 PM, they provide a great place for West Side residents to get fresh fruit and vegetables with the great knowledge that they are locally raised.

CEast End Bazaar

Providing the East End with it’s local spot for fresh, local foods, the East End Bazaar is another seasonal market open from April -October. As well as the Farmer’s Market, they have many other vendor stalls and also provide crafts and live music during the growing season.

The New Farmer’s Market is located at the Capitol Flea Market along Greenbrier St. The provide a year round place for vendors to setup and sell their produce and other items. Open Friday’s – Sunday’s from 8 AM to 5 PM

ETyler Creek Farm

Tyler Creek Farm is a 3rd generation farm family that features sustainable farming and focuses on conservation practices. They extend their season by using high tunnels to grow. They provide local restaurants with bulk greens and herbs. They grow heirloom produce, heritage breed pork beef and free range chickens and also raise honey bees on the farm.

We usually only think of Gritt’s as a place to go in the Fall, but all through the year they provide fresh food and run an amazing greenhouse. Gritt’s also has vendor stalls at other markets, like the Capitol Market. Nothing can compete however with going out to the farm/greenhouses for your purchases.

Springtime at the Capitol Market is one of the best ways to start your own garden. Local Greenhouses have all the plant starters you need to get started and when they bring them out to the Capitol Market, you know it’s time to get them in the ground.

 

Late Spring and Early Summer bring the best of local flowers and arborists to the area for shows and for selling. You can find many beautiful flowers and shrubs available at many local markets.

 

Fall of course brings the best time at Gritts with the Corn Mazes and pumpkin fields.
