Learn what inspires and drives some of your favorite area professionals at this live monthly speaker series. This episode features poet/artist Paula Kaufman, musician Bill Kimmons, and broadcaster Kennie Bass.
Paula Kaufman – Artist/Writer/Traveler – Paula grew up in Charleston and works for the county Planning Department. She has taught English on a squid-fishing island in Northern Japan, and in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. She completed her first book of poems, “Asking the Stars Advice” this Spring. Her MA is in African American Southern Food History.
Kennie Bass – Broadcaster – Kennie has been working in Broadcasting since 1978. He is a graduate of Nitro High School and Marshall University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. Kennie has been at WCHS-TV since 1997 where he continues to be news anchor/reporter. He is also involved as an actor in many local theater productions.
Bill Kimmons – Musician/Educator/Professional Santa Claus – Originally from Statesville, NC, Bill moved here in 1976. Kimmons began teaching math in 1987 in the Kanawha County School District. He is the bass singer in his a Capella group Bare Bones. Around the holidays, Bill can be seen portraying Santa at various places.
