Planning is underway for the 2019 Year of the Child Day at the Capitol, scheduled for Jan 31 from 8:30am to 3pm at the Culture Center. You expressed an interest in helping sponsoring/partnering with us for the event. In any way you can lend a hand, we appreciate.
Step two: If you’d like to talk to me about what you’d like to do, I’d like to have that conversation before the end of November. After that, I will open the gate to other potential sponsors/partners. We’ve reserved the Great Hall, the Theater, the Green Room and the Plaza for the day. We also plan to serve breakfast and lunch. This is all rather expensive, but since we most likely will not be able to set up tables in the Capitol (construction), and since the campaign officially ends in December 2019, we want to go big. We’ll need a lot of support to do this.
Step three- We can only have so many people in the Culture Center at a time, so we’ll need to try and bring people in different times of the day, for different parts of the program. This will take significant planning. Please talk to your staff and see if you are more interested in morning, afternoon, etc. See how long they’d like to stay, and what means the most to them when they participate in days like these.
Step four- I’d like to spend significant time in Jan convincing folks to visit with their legislators during their time at the Capitol. As you know, this takes time and a great deal of coaxing. And so, it would mean a great deal to me if we can nail down as many logistics as possible by the end of the year.
