Based on the best-selling novel by Robert James Waller, “The Bridges of Madison County”, tells the story of Iowa housewife Francesca Johnson and her life-changing four-day romance with traveling photographer Robert Kincaid. It’s an unforgettable story of two people caught between duty and desire with a book by Pulitzer Prize-winner Marsha Norman and a lush Tony Award-winning score by Jason Robert Brown that ranges from operatic strains to Americana folk. The 2014 Broadway production starred Kelli O’Hara and Steven Pasquale. An earlier non-musical film version was directed by Clint Eastwood and starred Eastwood and Merle Streep in an Oscar winning performance. Charleston Light Opera Guild is the area’s 67 year-old community musical theatre company dedicated to engaging and entertaining productions of quality. “The Bridges of Madison County” is directed by Nina Denton Pasinetti with musical direction by John Marshall.
